Step 9 of 13
Make one, then fix it
Your first version will be off somewhere. Order a single unit, test it, and adjust.
Resist the urge to order ten. A single unit exposes the mistakes that no review caught: a hole that is 0.3 mm off, a bracket that blocks a screw, a finish you dislike.
Log every problem against the parameter that caused it. Because the design is code, the fix is a one-line change and a re-export.
Only when one unit works in the real environment for a week do you move on to quantity.
Checklist
- Order quantity of one
- Test in the real environment
- Each defect traced to a named parameter
- Second revision ordered before any batch
